What is ‘Mai Mai’
In Mandarin Chinese, the word "Mai" (麦) means grain or wheat - the essence of nourishment and abundance. Grain, the building block of Asian cuisine.
The other Mai is personal - “Mai” comes from the love for our moms (Ma pronounced Mai in Maharashtra). When we said it twice, it clicked. Mai Mai felt like an echo of something both intimate and Asian.

The Mai Mai Story
Mai Mai is for a new generation of diners - for those who love Asian food and want it served with honesty, intention, and heart. From sushi to dim sums, sizzling bowls to homemade beverages, everything is made from scratch.

Yash Bhatia grew up in a home where food was emotion and everyday joy. Over time, he became a Food Futurist someone who intuitively knows what people will crave next and how to deliver it at scale. From launching Just Unjunk to helping build Licious into a household name, his journey reflects vision, resilience, and a deep love for food.
His cultural sensitivity of East Asian cuisine, combined with experience and knowledge as a Food Futurist, someone who instinctively understands what people will crave next, and bringing that into a brand new concept of an open kitchen experience, where chefs aren’t behind the scenes - they’re part of the story.

Shivam now leads the charge at Mai Mai as Culinary Lead, blending innovation with deep-rooted structure.

From London’s Strand Palace Hotel to Costa Cruises & McCormick, Shamik Kumar Mondal brings 24+ years of global culinary expertise to the heart of Mai Mai. He’s the force behind 250+ commercially successful products each designed for consistency, speed, and flavour .


Chef Tanushree Dutta
She traded storyboards for spatulas and never looked back. After training at the Taj and baking up a storm at Magnolia, she joined Mai Mai’s founding team to lead the dessert charge and yes, she takes that title very seriously. She’s the one making sure your last bite is the one you remember most. Catch her at the counter, quietly plotting her next big sugar rush.
